Monthly Message from Patty Benton

Christmas is less than two weeks away! I can't believe it!! The kids are so excited and so am I. I love giving gifts to the people I love. (I even give gifts to people I don't love sometimes just because I am in the giving spirit.)

The kids will be home from school from the 19th until the 3rd so that is a bit crazy for me, but we are rocking in our business so everything will work out great. That is why it is great to have a partner...you can still bring in a ton of work, but yet have time to spend with your family and friends as well!

Our coaching leveled program is talking about New Year Resolutions this month and it is a great topic! We often come up with our resolutions by tweaking what we had every other year. Our coaching participants are learning how to really be clear on what they want to accomplish and how to break it into chunks they can manage so this year they can start marking off those resolutions and feeling great about where they are going in their life and business.

You can learn more about the levels in the coaching program at http://pattybenton.com/membershipoptions. I encourage you to sign up for our Basic Level, as it will not cost you anything, and you can start with the basics of getting your business in place with a discussion group with weekly building topics and other professionals to bounce ideas off of! Also, in 2012 we will be focusing in depth on marketing for the year!

The feature article this month is about using the holidays to your advantage so you can still make money and be productive even if it seems like everyone in the world is off sipping eggnog!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to another team member...Teresa Morinaga. Teresa handles our bookkeeping and she is a Godsend! She has taken over getting me ready for tax season.

Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

As always, please feel free to send me your story ideas, questions and comments at editor@professionaladminteam.com. I'd love to know how things are going for you. Don't forget - you can sign up for a complimentary, 45-minute consultation at any time with me at http://tungle.me/PattyBenton

Maketing You Can Use – Using the Holidays to Your Advantage

Virtual Professionals and public businesses alike often dread to see a Monday holiday. What should be one of the busiest days of the week turns into a wasted day for business owners. The banks are closed. People take trips for the long weekend so there are very few customers about. There is very little money made or business transacted on these holidays.

At least that's what many Virtual Professionals think. However, you can turn this holiday to your advantage with just a bit of creativity. One way to do this is to hold a special holiday sale. Depending on what sort of Virtual Profession you operate, there is the possibility of having snacks and beverages for customers to enjoy while you explain what your business can do for them. Make it a party complete with some sort of door prizes for those in attendance.

If you run a Virtual Business from your house you can still hold a holiday sale or specials. These can be conducted from your website, through emails, or flyers. If your discounts are nice enough, you may find that you will have even more business than on normal working days.

Something else that is actually helpful with holidays on Monday or during the week, is that you can conduct your sales, make some money, and still take a half day off to spend time with your family or friends. It can be a restful afternoon for you during which you can do whatever favorite activity you choose. This might be sitting in the sun reading a book, or frolicking at the park with your family. Whatever it is will be positive because everyone needs some time off occasionally.

As you can see, holidays on a weekday don't have to be a negative thing. With a bit of creativity and some effort, you can make this one of your better business days. You can also choose to make it an annual event so that your regular customers will expect this special sale each year and will be ready to take advantage of it. You can hold these on just about any holiday that you wish, too. If your budget allows for it, try to have some promotional items on hand to give to your customers or clients. People always love free things. This is especially true if they also come with a hefty discount.
